As I begin to dream up my 2021 season and plan my sessions (i.e. when they’ll take place and where), I’m already yearning for golden sunsets in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. It’s one of the most spectacular places I’ve ever photographed in and a backdrop that I don’t think will ever grow old to me.
I’ve been wondering how many sessions I’ll be able to take in Watch Hill this spring and summer and how often I’ll be able to make the trip. If you’re dedicated to a Watch Hill session, please let me know!
This here photo + short film session is of my dear, dear friend who has inspired me since the first day I met her way back on the first day of freshmen year of high school. Back then, my passions consisted of reading historical fiction late into the night but art making was no where in sight. It would take me 10 years from meeting her to discover the artist in me. But, she was the first person to open my eyes to art as she would show me her creations she made, which always left me in awe. Speechless. Blown away by her creativity. Visiting her home built in the 1700’s and part of the Underground Railroad was like walking through an art gallery with walls were covered in original oil paintings. To this day, those walls are still a source of great inspiration to me.
Years later, creation is something we share in common and an area where she continues to inspire me in so many ways. I am so grateful for Katie and to have a life long friend to discuss our creative process together encouraging each other the whole way. Her work is intentional, thoughtful and poetic. She brings her connection to nature and her inner truth to her paint brushes leaving her pieces rich in color and feeling. I am so proud that after many years of contemplation, she is selling her work! I am one of the lucky ones to have covered a few walls in my home thanks to her art.
